The National Archive of Ecuador, under the direction of Mrs. Grecia Vasco de Escudero, created by Supreme Decree No.07 of 14 January 1938, is the institution responsible for the custody and administration of the Documentary Heritage of the Nation, so that the written testimony of its history remain intact and serve both the present and the future of any study, whose reality is lived through extraordinary events.

The current technology has enabled to the archival world a rapid and effective progress in its organization; the National Archive has taken this development to improve its specific needs and determine the rules in its relationship with the cultural world.

It is important to note the role fulfilled by the National Archive of Ecuador, after 73 years of operation, according to Supreme Decree No. 7 of 14 January 1938, where It reached a high degree of systematization of collections of documents, and where It became the first center of consultation in the country for local and foreign researchers.
