International project
for Citizen Change
 |
WHAT IS INFORMATION FOR CITIZEN CHANGE (INFOCC)? |
It is an international project launched by the Documentation Sciences Foundation as a network of institutions and professionals from several countries, with virtual meetings via the Internet and physical in selected countries by rotation, representing every continent.
What is the basic idea?
The information contained in the documents (in whatever medium) generates an awareness in people that allows them to communicate a change in their social and personal quality of life, being the technology and the Internet a medium for this.
Therefore:
- It is a way of thinking and acting.
- It is a network of public and private dialogue.
- It is a concept that values the knowledge gained from an effective use of information contained in documents, not just technical, as crucial in the development of democratic societies.
- It is a social project that seeks to improve the quality of life for our citizens and promoting human rights from the information and knowledge.
- It is an initiative that allows states to move closer to the needs of democratic citizens.
What are we looking for?
Regulating the exercise of power (vigilant citizenry in governance) and awareness towards a cultural change in the state-citizen.
Improving ethics in public service (to prevent violations, corruption, ...).
Facilitate transparency and accountability (not embezzlement).
Greater citizen participation to feel fully part of their democracies, and thus the full exercise of citizenship.
